Launched into life on the stage at the age of 16, Ellis Grover has made his way from a small town in Wales to the most successful shows in Britain. Touring all over the world he has shown his skills in music and balance to thousands at a time and has developed a deep understanding of the control of fear and the beauty of performance. First being found by nofitstate Circus he quickly found a passion for Highwire Walking, and only 5 years later he completed the highest Highwire walk in his home country's history and shows no plans to slow down.
"The Highwire found me, plain and simple."
As the son of the late great Blues musician Pat Grover, Ellis has simultaneously grown a career in music too, most notably as the Flying Drummer in Pirates of the Carabina's award-winning show FLOWN. A show in which he was able to express his talents on the Harmonica, Drums, Highwire, and saw the birth of his trademark chair trick which he has performed across the world. After over a decade performing in a number of award-winning productions, Ellis is moving his focus to tackling the question of what balance really means in our world and within our own habits.
”Rebalance is a project that has encapsulated my every waking thought for some time now, over my time as a highwire walker I have gained a philosophy of sorts for my own life that mirrors the correctional flow of a balance pole. We must dip into the darkness, and the light, in equal measure, whilst keep ourselves in the center of the two. This applies to every topic of the human experience, there is no static point. This too applies to the ecosystem itself, with its rains and its sunshine, its winters and summers. Then as the balance is pushed and a lack of stability ensues, then come the storms and draughts. This is why the metaphor is so relevant, and so widely used in translating complexed systems to the reader. I believe that I have found myself in an incredibly unique place, having the skill and knowhow to make use of the wire to amplify imbalances in our world, and create change through symbolic acts coupled with my own vision and desire for a better, more educated world.”
